Choosing the right therapist is essential.
Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable is crucial to the outcome of your therapy.
Reading the bios, qualifications, and experience is essential. However, in the end, it’s important to listen to your internal voice when deciding to embark on the healing journey with your therapist.
Meeting your needs requires an open conversation.
When clients choose me as their therapist, they are often unable to define what is wrong. They may have physical symptoms, difficulty concentrating or getting things done, or their spouse may tell them they must talk to someone.
In the first few sessions, you will tell me your life story, and I will ask you follow-up questions until we determine what is bothering you and what you want to change.
I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to express pain that has been too awful to even think about. We will take things as slowly as needed so the healing process does not overwhelm you.
Then, we work together to meet your specific needs.
We may use movement, breathing, relaxation techniques, and other evidence-based techniques to help you release tension from your body and settle your mind.
I will give you homework to keep you focused and growing outside the therapy session.
We may explore your culture, tradition, and personal and family history to discover how they impact your life and current situation.
By finding the source of your power, we can use it to help you transform your life into the one you have always wanted to live.
About Me
Therapy chose me.
Ever since I was a kid, I have felt deeply connected to the world around me. I cared for street animals, injured city birds, and homeless people. In elementary school, other kids gravitated toward me and told me about their problems. In high school, somebody always wanted to talk to me about stress at home, boy problems, or fear of exams.
I left my country at 16 and came to the United States as an exchange student. I was fascinated with American teenage comedies and wanted my personal “locker”😊. During that year, war broke out in my country, and I was not able to return home.
A tennis scholarship allowed me to study Psychology in the United States. At that time, it was clear that helping others thrive was my personal and life mission.
Becoming a therapist required further study.
I completed my undergraduate and graduate school studies in Washington State and my Ph.D. studies in Bosnia. Now, I am a licensed therapist in California and Washington.
My compassionate and friendly nature makes connecting with people of all backgrounds and life paths easy. I have worked as a therapist in public and private settings, providing individual, family, couples, and group therapy. Additionally, I taught Psychology to university students and have provided clinical consultations, supervision, and management to the U.S. Military.
I feel most content connecting with struggling individuals and helping them flourish and reach their full potential. I am honored to share your therapeutic journey with you.
In my spare time…
I spend time with my family (husband, two teenage stepsons, two dogs, and a cat). I love yoga, meditation, reading, hiking, tennis, skiing, rock climbing, and, most recently, surfing. I look forward to meeting you soon.
