Individual therapy is a form of self-love and self-care.
Sometimes, issues and concerns are difficult to discuss with friends and family because you might fear they will not understand. Individual therapy provides a space for one-on-one conversations with a therapist who has your best interests at heart.
Individual therapy provides a judgment-free zone where you can discuss what’s on your heart.
It may feel awkward the first time you speak to a therapist. As you establish a relationship with your therapist, you will find that coming to therapy becomes a way to center your thoughts, process your emotions, and improve your relationships and work performance.
Here’s what to expect from individual therapy.
In our work together, we will talk about your life story so that we can tap into the source of your strength (your superpowers). Then, we will process hard, ugly experiences that have changed you and made you feel insecure, ashamed, or discouraged.
Processing difficult experiences brings a sense of relief, allowing you to live your life freely and meaningfully.
Think of individual therapy as a time for exploration, allowing you to become more self-aware of your feelings, behaviors, relationships, or other areas you wish to change or address.
This process is not linear, and it is always on your terms. You will learn how to cope with your daily life without feeling overwhelmed and how to become your own best friend and therapist.
What happens after therapy?
Then, my work is over. However, you can always come back if issues arise or you need ongoing support.
There is no cookie-cutter solution for therapy. Some people just need a few sessions to feel validated and hear another adult tell them, “Your feelings are totally justified, and you got this,” while others who carry traumas from childhood or ongoing unhealthy relationships need more time to heal and thrive.
This time is for you! I am here to work by your side as we find ways to address your concerns and desires.
