ADHD presents challenges for children.
ADHD can significantly impact a child’s academic and social functioning, and what starts in childhood can carry over into adulthood.
Children dealing with ADHD can find it hard to stay on task and pay attention, creating difficulty in the classroom and with homework.
A lack of organization makes finishing tasks difficult. A child with ADHD might very well avoid homework or other challenging activities. Social situations can be difficult, and behaviors in the classroom can be disruptive.
With proper counseling from a qualified therapist, children can learn skills to overcome and compensate for the impact of ADHD.
Therapy offers many resources.
If you would like to explore the medication path, I am happy to collaborate with your child’s doctor to provide the treatment plan that makes the most sense to you and your family. If you prefer to steer away from medicine, I get it. It is scary to think about giving your child medication, and sometimes it is not needed.
For those who do not want to pursue the non-medical path, I am happy to offer behavioral strategies, organizational skills training, and emotional support to manage the symptoms. We will use cognitive behavioral therapy to improve organization and planning, attention and distractibility, and self-defeating thoughts.
We will playfully use breath and bodywork to learn how to redirect hyper energy and self-regulate strong emotions. If needed, we can take therapy outside. I meet with parents before each session to discuss the week before and offer helpful tips and homework when appropriate.
Help for your ADHD is available.
I am passionate about working with children, teens, and adults who suspect they have ADHD, as well as those who have been diagnosed and are looking for support and therapy. If you are looking for ADHD coaching or therapy for yourself, you are ahead of the game. Most of my patients with ADHD come to therapy not knowing they have it, just feeling like something is off.
Adults with ADHD often experience self-esteem issues, imposter syndrome, and difficulties staying organized and completing tasks. These issues usually impact their relationships, careers, and well-being.
We will approach therapy in a way that is most supportive of you, using neurodivergent lenses to understand who you are and help you create a self-serving and empowering life. This is your journey, and I am honored to be invited to come along.
I am ready to take that step with you and your family. Call me, and let’s move closer to the life you have always wanted.
